Sumo: Kisenosato secures ozeki promotion but loses on final day in Kyushu FUKUOKA (Kyodo) -- The announcement of Kisenosato's imminent promotion to sumo's second highest rank came even before the sekiwake stepped in the raised ring for his final match of the Kyushu Grand Sumo Tournament on Sunday.

Kumamoto Prefecture's "Kuma-mon" bear mascot and the "Barii-san" bird character from Imabari, Ehime Prefecture, had been in a dead heat for the top spot in this year's "Yuru Chara Grand Prix" (literally "loose characters"), contested by some 349 mascots.
